I was only 5 years old when I got my first Lego set. It was the Star Wars A-Wing I got from my grandmother for Christmas. From that moment on, all I wanted was to build Lego. Age suggestions didn't apply. The harder the better!
I just entered middle school when the pandemic hit. Everyone was stuck at home trying to get through it. That was when I found GBCs (Great Ball Contraptions). I spent that whole time tinkering and building. I turned those little plastic toys into moving, engineering marvels. I learned all I could about gears, gear ratios, lift arms, you name it! Everything I built had to get bigger and better.
All this work finally paid off. I won Best GBC at my first Brick Slopes event and now I've been accepted into the UNLV School of Engineering! I am fortunate in that I have a clear path after graduation. I know that I want to continue building GBC modules and Kinetic Sculptures while I work toward my engineering degree. With any luck, I can land my dream job working at Lego Headquarters in Denmark. Till then, I'd love to share my builds with anyone who wants to learn how to build these awesome creations.
